August 2, 2012 marked an important milestone for Rex: it was our 10th anniversary. We consider ourselves to be very fortunate and blessed with loyal supporters like you who have made it possible for Rex to traverse one of aviation’s most treacherous decades - the aftermath of 9/11, the Middle East wars, SARS, the decade-long drought, the Great Financial Crisis, runaway fuel prices, volcanic ash, the Eurozone crisis....
From this baptism of fire, Rex has emerged stronger and better. Today we are recognised as one of the world’s best regional airlines, having been profitable in each of the last 9 years with On-Time Performance consistently one of the highest. And on our 10th anniversary year we achieved the unthinkable - we made more absolute profits than any other airline in Australia.
To pay tribute to the many extraordinary people who have helped create and sustain this miracle of survival, we published a coffee table book on the story of Rex. We have placed a copy of this book in an electronic format so all of us may share in the special memories captured in the book. Of course, the book is also available for sale on the Rex Collection section of the web with all profits going to charity
We were also honoured by the contributions that poured in from customers who shared heart-warming stories of their experiences with Rex. We were not able to put all of these touching stories in the book so we have now placed these stories in our website as a permanent record of our journey together.
To honour this momentous occasion, we also held an Open Day at our Australian Airline Pilot Academy in Wagga Wagga, the spiritual Headquarters for Rex. It was a fun-packed day for everyone and we are glad you could be a part of it. Check out all the photos from this great day in the photo gallery.
